THE AXE RULE
"What the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve." - Napoleon Hill
If the axe is dull and its edge unsharpened, more strength is needed but skill will bring success. You might have come across such a word somewhere or not? But that’s not the issue. The issue is that most people go through life with dull axes and expect to cut every tree that comes there way with that same axe. Imagine going to a forest with an axe to cut down as much trees you would need for a construction work and you get started cutting down the first tree with ease, and on and on you keep chopping down every tree that comes your way; suddenly you get to a particular tree and try to chop down the tree but to no avail, you keep trying keeping up the enthusiasm that you have being doing this to other trees. After much more attempt you get disgusted and you finally concluded this tree cannot be chop down then you go back home. You see that how life is. You go through life with your current knowledge, skills, ideas, and you expect you did go very far with it. I’m sorry to disappoint you that even though you get somewhere with it, you are not going very far. Back to my illustration (the man with the axe), what is he expected to do with he suddenly realize that this tree doesn’t want to be chop down? SHARPEN THE AXE. That what most people fail to do, with there current skills, knowledge, ideas, they want to chop down every obstacle (the tree) that comes there way and when they get to a particular tree that poses difficulty they turn around and head back home forgetting that what they need do is to acquire more skills, knowledge, ideas, and go back to that difficulty (tree) and chop it down. There is one familiar saying “you cannot do something the same way every time and expect a different result”. SHARPEN YOUR AXE. In this case your sharpen your axe means reading new books, attending new seminars, listening to audio books, acquiring new skills etc. If the axe is dull and its edge unsharpened, more strength is needed but skill will bring success. Always remember to sharpen your axe.
